The Forest Hill to Auburn Stage

The Autobus as many called it, was a daily excursion
which was not without incidents. This group of gentlemen is
a mystery as to their identity. The big fella,
with the long coat, we feel is Elmer Gum who fits the

stature better than Big Dip the noteworthy
Police Captain in Auburn back then.

The reference photo was taken down by the old
Forest Hill north fork crossing. Likely these gentlemen
were investors. Many have ties on and

fat cigars. Most of these gentlemen are well dressed men.
Although they are using a modern mode of transportation,
I can only imagine the catastrophes that must
have been common on the Foresthill grade with
horses, wagons, gully washers and dust!
