“Courthouse Baseball Practice”
Artist: James Geddes

I am guessing this scene was photographed from the Placer County Courthouse
about 1908-10. As you can see the fountain that Jacob Neff had built for
Placer County and Auburn was a hub of activity.

The fountain was used for watering horses, dogs and thirsty visitors.
The boys used the fountain for home plate and the pillars at the entry to
the courthouse for bases in their baseball games!
