Dutch Flat Store

Nancy and I have a special place in our hearts for Dutch Flat.
My introduction to this historic town was in 1956.
My first trip was fishing at Hancock Mine on the Bear River
below Drum Powerhouse. We eventually moved to Dutch Flat
and lived there Twenty years. Made so many good friends there.

One of those friends was Matt Bailey! I had to
include him and Ramona in this sketch. Back in this era,
high school students had to travel to Placer High School. This young man
is filling the family hand-me-down so he could forgo the bus ride.
This also allowed him play after school sports. The local kids all admired him.
The boys watching him fill with gas reminds me of the kids
we at "The Scoop" during summer. The Scoop was our ice cream
and viedo store for several years.

There are a lot of memories in Dutch Flat. Including the Quinn Family
who always attended the 4th of July Parade each year!
The Quinn brothers ran the Dutch Flat Store at the time
depicted in this sketch!
