Fosters Old Fashion Freeze

Judy Melick was instrumental in this sketch coming to life!
Judyís parents, Larry and Annette Steigmeyer,
owned Fosterís 1965 to 1973, and our whole family worked there,
along with most of their friends! This sketch depicts
Fosterís from about 1966. Judy sent me a photograph which
she had taken herself. She had saved it
all these years as part of their family history.

I like including items in my sketches that were common back then,
but no longer seen today. For instance the telephone booth in front
of the seating area and the kids standing and riding in the back of a
pickup truck. One of my favorite things to do!

Fosterís was the hangout for Placer students! During open
campus at lunch, Fosterís hosted many many students!
It was the place for girl watching or boy watching! Not to
mention cones, shakes and sundaes!
After the game... meet at Fosterís! Got a new car... cruise Fosterís!

The theater building is in the rear with the screen end closest to us.
Auburn Hobby Shop was next door and City hall was across
the street and to the right toward central square.
