“Koffee Kup on the Corner”

This is a historic and unusual scene. Early 30’s is the
time frame. Prior to this, Auburnite,

Sadie Ridenger had an open-air
ice cream and root beer float stand across
the street from Harry White’s gas station, between
High Street and Lincoln Way. Sadie was successful
and she struck a deal with Harry to move her business

to the corner of East Placer and High Street, across from
where her root beer stand was.

Sadie wanted to own a restaurant and soon she moved
down the street next to the Buick dealer and open the Koffee Kup
where she was successful until she sold it to Mary Medin.
Mary ran it for years but eventually opened Mary Belle’s in
Old Town.
