The Valencia Club 1947

First know as the Hilltop Cafe, which applied for a liquor license
in 1942. It sits at the corner of Highway 40 and Rock Springs Rd.,
a short distance from the Griffith Quarry and the Licncoln Highway.
The restaurant and cocktail lounge was and still is a very popular
place for large gatherings. Many organizations, businesses and clubs
have held their Special events and honoraria at the Valencia. The
Valencia has supported fund raising efforts of March of Dimes, schools
and clubs over the years.

When I was young, mom had her Christmas parties with
Bank of America at the Valencia. I had to wear a
white shirt and a bow tie. I think that was the first time
I saw people, including my folks, jitterbug! I always looked
forward to the Valencia Parties!!! But more times than not
I was left at home with a auntie while mom and dad went down for
dinner and dancing!
