Wally’s Ice Cream
A real treat when I was very young, 1954-58, was going to
Wally’s Ice Cream. My mom and dad used to go to Wally’s
when they were dating. Mom loved chocolate shakes and dad
always got a pineapple sundae. My favorite was French fries and
a root beer float. Wally’s was always packed! The high school and Sierra College
crowd would spin discs on the juke box. You could barely hear each other talking
over the laughter and music!
At the corner of Harrison and Lincoln Way was a Willy’s dealer with a
brand new Jeepster or pickup in the show room window.
Lemmon Chevrolet was on the corner Cleveland across
from Elder’s. Lemmon Chevrolet had a good little league team back then.
